Acupuncture for Sleep, Fatigue & Energy
Supporting restful sleep, improved energy, and nervous system balance through personalised acupuncture and Chinese medicine in Wollongong.
Acupuncture for sleep, fatigue & energy support
Poor sleep and low energy can affect every aspect of life. When you're not sleeping well or constantly feeling exhausted, it can impact your mood, concentration, relationships, work, and overall wellbeing.
Modern life places significant demands on our bodies. Stress, busy schedules, poor sleep, illness, hormonal changes, and burnout can all contribute to fatigue and leave us feeling like we're simply running on empty.
At our clinic, I take an integrative approach to sleep and energy concerns, combining both Western and Chinese medicine perspectives. Alongside your symptoms, I consider factors such as stress, digestion, hormonal health, lifestyle, sleep habits, energy levels, pulse, and tongue to develop an individualised treatment plan.
Acupuncture and Chinese medicine aim to support the body's natural ability to rest, recover, and restore energy, helping you feel calmer, more rested, and better able to cope with daily life.

The Chinese medicine view of sleep and energy
In Chinese medicine, good sleep relies on a calm and settled Shen, often translated as the mind or spirit. The Shen can be thought of as closely relating to the nervous system and our ability to relax, switch off, and sleep deeply. For the Shen to rest peacefully at night, it must be adequately nourished by healthy Qi and Blood.
Sleep may become disturbed when there is insufficient Qi or Blood to support the mind, or when the Shen becomes agitated by other patterns of imbalance. These may include internal Heat, which can be thought of as inflammation or overactivity within the body; Dampness and Phlegm, which often arise from poor digestion and fluid congestion; or stagnation of Qi and Blood, which commonly develops in response to prolonged stress, emotional tension, or pain.
From an energy perspective, the Spleen and Stomach are considered the foundation of our day-to-day energy production. Their role is to transform food and drink into Qi and Blood, which nourish the entire body. When digestion is compromised, symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog, poor concentration, and low energy may develop.
The Kidneys are considered the body's deeper energy reserves and play an important role in growth, ageing, resilience, and recovery. Long-term stress, overwork, inadequate rest, poor sleep, or chronic illness may gradually deplete these reserves, leaving a person feeling exhausted, depleted, or unable to fully recharge.
Treatment focuses on identifying the underlying pattern of imbalance and supporting the body's ability to rest deeply, restore energy, and regain balance. How acupuncture may help
