Areas I Commonly Support

Your first appointment

  • Before you arrive, you’ll be emailed a consent form and intake form to complete online, which gives me a detailed understanding of your health history.

  • On the day of your appointment, please make sure you’ve had something to eat and are hydrated, and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Try to avoid brushing or scraping your tongue beforehand, as tongue diagnosis is part of the assessment.

  • During your visit, we’ll discuss the main reason for your appointment and clarify any details from your intake form. I will feel your pulse at the wrist, look at your tongue, and may also perform gentle palpation if needed.

  • From there, your acupuncture treatment will begin. You’ll lie comfortably on the treatment table while fine, sterile needles are gently inserted. This is generally a very comfortable process, and if you’re feeling nervous, I can help distract you during treatment. If appropriate, cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion may also be included

  • You’ll then rest for 20–30 minutes with the lights dimmed and a heat lamp for warmth, allowing your body to fully relax. Soft music is played during this time to support a calm treatment experience.

  • If required, Chinese herbal medicine may also be prescribed as part of your treatment plan.

  • After your session, people generally feel relaxed, calm, and often either more settled or gently energised.
